Bobcaygeon Spring/Summer Activities

The Bobcaygeon area is surrounded by a wealth of trails for all types of activities. Including hiking, cycling and casual nature walks. No matter how you like to get out and explore the wilderness, this area will have a trail for you to try. The Blue Pigeon Resort is located within very close proximity to a variety of trails. Many of the trails in the area are perfect for hikers. These include some which are short and very civilized, including a boardwalk style trail that starts right in Bobcaygeon itself. There are also some much more challenging and “off-the-beaten-path” style walking trails that are great for the more experienced hiker. There are also many cycling trails throughout the region. Many people in the area use their bicycles as their primary mode of day-to-day transportation during the summer months, so you’ll have no problems finding a place to ride. If you prefer your trail rides to involve motorized transportation, you will not be disappointed, as the area is also rich with ATV trails, and snowmobile trails for the winter time. Fishing in the region is top notch, and sure to offer both challenges and excitement to everyone from the rookie to the seasoned angler. Pigeon Lake is particularly well known for its bass fishing. Whether you are looking for smallmouth or largemouth bass, you are in the right place. Pigeon Lake provides a lot of structure, so you can go hunting for bass along island shorelines and weed beds throughout the lake with great success. If you are looking for Walleyes, try some shallow water trolling first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening. Overcast days are also good, as walleyes tend to be more dormant when the light is too bright. May to June is peak walleye season in the area. They can certainly still be caught all summer long, you just might have to work a little harder to get some of these delicious fish in the boat.
