Welcome to Blue Pigeon Resort!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for taking the time to read about our story and how we became the owners and operators of this quaint little resort located on Pigeon Lake in the town of Bobcaygeon.

We cannot take credit for something that was not our idea.  This is the result of an idea that transpired from my (Julie) father; to own a small property in the outskirts of the city, by the water with rental potential.  I remember the day that he took me to  Sugar Bush Cottages back in winter of 2013; my reaction?  What the heck are we going to do out here?!?  It was then decided amongst us that this was going to be something that we can acquire and operate as a seasonal project.

Opening our doors as Blue Pigeon Resort to our first patrons in 2015; was both scary and exciting.  We were nervous about operating a business within the hospitality industry for the first time, client acquisition, and most importantly nervous that clients would not like or appreciate the lengths and efforts that we had been through to turn this resort into what it is today.

As for myself, I was in the legal profession and found myself to be involved with every aspect of this business – the development and growth, the day to day operations, client acquisition and retention, marketing, staffing and the list goes on and on.  Soon enough, I realized that this was not a small project that we had taken on but a project that a life of its own and it required much more attention.

Fast forward, years later, I am still highly involved with the day to day operations of Blue Pigeon Resort; my fiancé, Kurtis, now my partner in crime – in life and in business;  are running the operations and overseeing the business during the summer months, while the both of us are simultaneously running our other businesses in the GTA.  As stressful and difficult it is for us at times, the enjoyment that we see on our patrons faces when they come visit and the awe that they are in about the state of our second home, makes all the hard work, tired summer months and long hours worth it for us.

As Kurtis and I, along side with our parents, grow Blue Pigeon Resort, we know that this will become a family legacy one day.  That this is no longer a pastime project but one that has become one of our children.  We have fallen in love with the community, our project, the lake, the tranquility of what this place has to offer and so much more.

It has been such a pleasure to have met all of our patrons over the years; some great memories have been built and some friends made.  We continue to look forward to making more memories in the future and we do hope that you all enjoy your stay with us and to see your smiling faces in the upcoming season as we are excited to for the hard work that we have put into the property this last year and love it as much we do here.
